The keeper

The drumsticks click in her head
The beat's playing on unsaid
And here she is, at the cusp of eternity
Like when the clock hands chime

And she stares into the velvet sky
She peers into space as high
And her memories pour out
Pour out in a rhyme

She has lost her naivety so sound
Shattered rose tints on the ground
And yet her heart sings
Sings a tune so divine

With open eyes, she take her flight
Takes a dip and soars to the heights
And the world becomes her nest
A nest so sublime

She looks down with a sense of awe
It's hard to believe what she just saw
The years have passed like seconds
In the oasis of time

For she knows the roles have reversed
She's the guardian, the keeper, the savior
And her job's to protect them all
To protect from the feline

And she knows before her every ward
It is herself she has to guard
So she dips again, with her wings spread wide
For she knows the flight will be
Just fine
